We take a detailed review of the latest Nike SB Dunk Low Raygun in two new tie-dye colorways.
The Nike SB Dunk Low Tie-Dye Raygun arrived just after Christmas. Consequently, letting kick fans ring in the New Year with these reimagined throwback skateboard sneakers on their feet. Today, we take a closer look at one half of the tie-dye pack; the Black colorway.
The SB Dunk Low Tie-Dye Rayguns retailed at $100 on December 28th, 2019 in time for holiday shoppers and sneaker heads everywhere to cop a pair. Dating back to 2005, this updated piece of nostalgia is reminiscent of the OG Rosewell Rayguns. It should be noted, this was also the first time the SB logo would appear. Dubbed the “Home” pair, the Black colorway as well as the White “Away” version pay homage to late SB General Manager Sandy Bodecker. Bodecker passed after a 36 year tenure with Nike.
Get into the look…
The Dunk Low Tie-Dye Raygun Black delivers on its namesake. Black premium leather makes up the vamp, lace guard, eyestays, heel counter and wrapping SB Swoosh. Meanwhile, a synthetic mesh covers the extended tongue ending in a perforated vamp. On the tongue liner, we find a Flash Orange #58 tag that matches the SB Dunk Rayguns trademark on the tongue tab.
Bleach-stained Orange Flash and Yellow pop vibrantly in this trippy colorway. Ankle stabilizer comes in a tie-dye Yellow. Similarly, the quarter panel underlays come in tie-dye Orange Flash. This Orange Flash appears on the collar counter as well. Going into the Black synthetic sockliner, we find Zoom Air x Nike SB co-branding atop that same Orange Flash faded tie-dye pattern.
A Black Zoom Air midsole sits above the White rubber outsole. Fluffy White laces help create balance and perfectly secure the forefoot for excellent stride. Finally, the Rayguns’ mascot embroidered Green alien dual-wielding rayguns aimed in either direction sits at the lateral heel.
Although the Nike SB Dunk Low Raygun Tie-Dye are available in a White colorway, it sure looks good in Black. For the price, they are absolutely worth the cop and the resale value is on the rise.
