“I air out the showroom, the shit can breathe. Fix your weave, behold my expertise”- Uzi (Pinky Ring)

To say that you don’t know of the Wu-Tang Clan is a lot like saying you don’t know Nike Brand. After all, Wu Tang is for the children.

A history in the making…

The RZA, the GZA, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon. Ghostface Killah, U-God Masta Killa and Ol’ Dirty Bastard (R.I.P). These are the founding nine members of the 1991 hip-hop group the Wu-Tang Clan.

In 1993, the group debuted one of the most iconic albums in the genre’s history: Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). Then, in 1998, they released the massive 30 plus member collaborative album Wu-Tang Killa Beez: The Swarm.

Take ’em to school…

Finally, in 1999 Nike re-released its 1985 Dunk High “Be True To Your School” collection. In come the badass boys from Staten Island. Wu-Tang chose the Black/Goldenrod colorway associated with the University of Iowa. UI is one of the original seven looks of the ’85 Nike Dunk ‘Be True’ Series.

This colorway aligned perfectly with the Killa Beez chosen color palette. They feature the iconic Wu-Tang logo embroidered on the heel and custom nylon tongue label. Finely crafted old school leather covers the shoe from heel to toe. Goldenrod isn’t tech savvy, especially when compared with current models. However, the Dunk aims for simplicity, wearability and comfort.

Wanna know where to find them? So do we.

Exclusivity of these sneakers cannot be understated. A grand total of 36 pairs are rumored to have been released, poetically matching the groups 36 Chambers. Considering there are nearly as many contributors on The Swarm, it’s likely that most sneaker fans will only see these illusive kicks online or in their dreams. Resale value are in the 4 digit range and anyone lucky enough to cop a pair should seriously think twice before letting them go.

“When I sit here and see that the eight brothers from the neighborhood that I grew up with still have success, it had to be magical. I doubt if you get another ‘Wu-Tang Clan.’ That might be harder than getting the new ‘Jackson Five.’ Certain groups you only get one time, and we just happened to be that group.” – Wu Tang Clan (Raekwon)
