YankeeKicks brings you another sneak peek sneaker, this time showing off the upcoming Paul Rodriguez x Nike SB Dunk Low “What The P-Rod.” When it comes to skateboarding, Paul Rodriguez really needs no introduction. His contributions to the skateboarding, fashion, and entertainment industry can’t be understated or undervalued. And nowhere is that more evident of that than his latest “What The” Dunk showcasing some of his most popular sneaker silhouettes and colorways.
Honestly, where to even begin with these incredibly detailed kicks? Both the right and left show, respectively come jam-packed with nods and salute silhouettes as recent as 2020s Dunk High Pro or as iconic as the P-Rod SB Zoom Air Low from 2015.
Starting with the Right foot, the toebox sports Blue, Aqua, Red, Pink, White, and Yellow stitching. This helps pull the eyes to the Black leather toe wrap with Silver embroidery straight from the Nike SB “Bo-Rod.” The medial eyestays show off Grey to match the lateral Elephant print on the other side. A Black mesh tongue topped with Paul’s signature on the tongue tab sits between them.
This leads into a Deep Blue quilted sockliner and Black quilted heel. Coming around to the heel itself, we find another P-Rod signature, this time atop a rainbow heel counter. Subsequently, the sole insert pops with Neon Yellow. The medial quarter panel features Burgundy tumbled leather below one Black embroidered mini-Swoosh and one White stitched Swoosh outline leading back to the nubuck Brown animal print design lasered into the material.
Meanwhile, the lateral end hits in Grey nubuck with small embroidered circles beneath a Black reptile-skinned Swoosh lined in Yellow. This extends over the White leather heel overlay lines in Red. A shiny PR SB World Champion XV dubrea comes bejeweled like an official ring. Two different hues of Brown make up the midsole and rubber outsole below, completing half the set.
Finally moving over to the left sneaker, we see a ton of animal print influence. The perforated toebox hits in a mix of suede and leather from the P-Rod 1 “Mexican Blanket” and appears the most out of place with regard to the rest of the design. Instead of just one eyestay, this time Elephant print covers all of the toe wrap.
On the medial side, this leads to Black gator-skin coating the quarter panel topped with a Lazer Orange suede Swoosh. The heel overlay comes in White covered in embossed PR branding. Coming around to the heel, a Black-spotted heel pairs nicely with the later heel overlay that shows up in a Black-on-Black design. The insole features a Black insole with White patterns and Nike SB branding.
This rests below a patent Swoosh made of a gradient rainbow. Likewise, a White Sashiko-style knitting sits below the Swoosh leading up to the Black eyestays. However, the medial eyestays appear in Brown burlap. Contrasting with the right tongue, this one features White mesh below a Rodriguez Nike SB tongue tab drenched in Burgundy. Laces end in an “SHS” branded chrome dubrae. Subsequently, the rubber outsole starts with a red toe tip, White arch, and ends with Green from the arch to the tip.
Although these Dunks come pre-set with one Red and one Yellow lace, WTP-Rod arrives with three complete sets of laces, including a Neon Yellow pair. Some details couldn’t be immediately placed and others still come from unreleased Samples.
Even with all the detailing we’ve gone over, it almost feels like we aren’t doing them justice. You just have to see the Paul Rodriguez x Nike SB Dunk Low “What The P-Rod” with your own eyes. So, enjoy the YankeeKicks official images and stay tuned for more information releasing soon.
