After months of teasing, the much sought-after Air Jordan 1 Retro Hi AJKO “Chicago” will return May 12th, 2021 retailing for $140. Jordan Brand keeps hitting sneakerheads with one throwback release after another. With a year of dealing with delays, counterfeits sites, and bot resellers, Jordan Brand relaunches its version of a bootleg AJ 1.
Taking on the same silhouette as its 2014 remodel rather than the OG Jordan 1 “Knock-Off” ’86 edition, we see typical leather construction done away with for a more dynamic canvas upper. With the “Chicago” and “Bred” colorways being used as often as they are, seeing them done in canvas refreshes a done-to-death theme.
However, some leather remains, like in the Black collar and quarter panel Swoosh, and University Red ankle stabilizers. More Red hits the forefoot overlays atop White canvas underlays. Subsequently, the Red Vandal outsole rests below a White Air midsole.
The AJKO branded Wings serve as the final touch on a classic kick. So, what do you think of the rerelease for the Air Jordan 1 Retro Hi AJKO “Chicago” dropping next year? Are they worth the hype after all this time? Stay tuned to Yankeekicks for more updates.
