It feels pretty cool to say Madam Vice President Kamala Harris is a sneakerhead. In Particular, she seems to really enjoy the look at feel of Converse. VP Harris’ sneaker game has been picking up general interest since back during last year’s campaign trail. She hopped off a plane in Milwaukee, not in the standard professional woman’s high heel. But instead, a simple pair of Black Chuck Taylors. Videos of which received over 8 million views on Twitter, alone.
Since then, numerous images have surfaced in which the Madam Vice President utilizes her Chuck Taylors to support her ascension to the White House. Not only do the kicks make her more dimensional as a person, but relate her to the everyman (or woman) who might rock Converse over its parent company Nike. Converse itself has seen a slight decline in sales in the face of the pandemic. And although they have no confirmed nor denied Kamala’s influence in terms of recent sales data, Converse said in a statement, “We are pleased that the Madam Vice President has chosen our sneaker as a staple in her wardrobe.”
The question now of sneakerheads’ minds, particularly the ladies, is whether Converse can be a staple for this revolutionary woman as she operates out of the White House moving forward. During the inauguration, we saw Harris’ nephew, Nikolas Ajagu, stepping out in the Jordan 1 High Diors. However, the literal MVP that she is, Harris wore Black heels with her stunning Purple dress and coat. I mean, we couldn’t expect her to be sworn in wearing Converse sneakers. But, we can dream. Will we be seeing more Chucks coming from Madam Vice President Kamala Harris? Only time will tell.
