The cofounding Fofana brothers pay homage to Château Rouge in their collaboration with Nike Air Jordan 1 “Fearless Ones.”
Designers and co-founders Youssouf and Mamadou Fofana embody Parisian cool. Obviously hailing from Paris’ most famous African neighborhood, Maison Château boasts a large immigrant population, but also a bad rep these brothers are trying to correct. Due to this, in 2015 Maison Château Rouge was created with the mission of rebranding their beloved district in the 18th arrondissement.
“We’re not just African, we’re French too. For a long time, we thought we had to choose one or the other. Now, we just want to embrace both.”

Above all, the Fofana brothers translate their African-French brand famously to the B-ball classic AJ1 with a delicate colorway, debossed rich African patterns and contrast stitching throughout the upper.
First, Baby Blue mudguard, mustache and heel counter pull steal the focus with their intricate design. Pale Yellow is seen in the upper lace guard, outsold, Jump Man tongue tag and Maison Chateau Rogue Heel Clip.
Clay Brown lower lace guard, Air Jordan embroidery and Nike swoosh, all with a different pattern used. Vanilla Cream on the vamp, collar and inside and outside quarter panel pair smoothly with the aforementioned Brown.
White midsole, tongue and laces bring balance to the more color parts of the sneaker. However hidden among the laces are corresponding Blue, Yellow, Red, Brown aglets. Bright red stitching across the heel counter and atop the tongue binding. Finally, each pair will come with an Air Jordan hangtag.
